Pollyanna Harmsworth Christmas gift edit

Pollyanna Harmsworth Christmas gift edit

Pollyanna Montagu

I like to think the best Christmas presents are the ones that say 'I thought of you' and have an emotional connection. For me (and I know I'm biased!) very little says it quite so well as a name, beautifully printed, on paper that feels lovely to touch.

I've gathered together a few of my favourite things below for everyone on your list; the friend who never forgets a thank you, the Godchild just learning to write and the one who would rather be in a field than at a desk. Each can be made entirely their own and each is the sort of present that gests used and treasured, long after the decorations come down.

For the one who always writes back - correspondence cards

There is someone in every family who sends a thank you note before the turkey is cold. Correspondence cards are made for them and for anyone who would like to become that person in the new year. A few lines is all a card asks for, which is rather the charm of it. A thank you after supper, a note tucked in with a borrowed book, a quick hello just because. Printed with their name or address or one of my motifs, they turn a small kindness into something that feels considered.

Perfect for: hosts and hostesses, grandparents and anyone with a New Year's resolution to write more.

For the country lover: pheasant cards

Some people are happiest with mud on their boots and a dog at their heels. My pheasant cards bring a little of that crisp winter morning to the writing desk. They are just the thing for thanking a host after a day out in the field. Give a box to the person who keeps a pen in their Barbour pocket adn they'll think of you every time they write.

Perfect for: Fathers and fathers-in-law, walkers and anyone who counts the days until the season begins.

For the sporting sort: cricket, tennis, rowing and racing cards

We all know someone whose year is measured in fixtures rather than months. For them, a set of cards that speaks to their great love is a present that makes them smile before they've even picked up a pen.

Perfect for: Grandfathers, Uncles, sporty teenagers and the friend you only ever see at the clubhouse.

For the list-maker: a personalised notebook

A fresh notebook in January holds such promise. Recipes to try, books to read, garden plans, some journalling - it is wonderful what finds its way on to a clean page. With their initial on the cover, it becomes theirs from the very first word. It sits on the kitchen table or travels in a handbag and quietly fills up with the year.

Perfect for: daughters, busy mothers and the friend who is never without a plan.

For your godchildren: children's cards

Choosing for a godchild is a lovely responsibility. You want something they'll enjoy now and something that willmean a little more as they grow - which is exactly why children's stationery makes such a special present. Cards printed with their very own name make writing feel grown-up and exciting. They're ideal for Christmas thank yous, birthday notes and letters home from school and every one they send is a small reminder of who gave them the first box.

Perfect for: godchildren, grandchildren and little ones about to discover the joy of post with their name on it.

Everything here is printed to order, so do leave a little time for me to make it just right. To arrive in time for Christmas, please order by 15th November.
