Pollyanna loves - the Valentine's edit

Hannah Morris

Valentine’s Day feels like the perfect moment to pause and acknowledge the things that bring joy, comfort and inspiration - the places that lift my mood, the routines that keep me grounded and the little luxuries that quietly brighten everyday life. Here are a few of the things I love most.

Covent Garden

There’s something endlessly charming about Covent Garden. When my children were young, we’d watch the street performers for far longer than planned, swept up in the energy and colour. Even now, it still feels like a pocket of London at its most magical.

A pub fire and a quiet corner

Nothing beats the warmth of an open fire in a proper English pub, whether I’m stopping in for a pint (still my drink of choice) or settling with a coffee and my laptop to get some work done. My favourite local escape is The Mayflower in Lymington, where the welcome is as good as the view.

Mabel and the memory of Mildred

My spaniels have added a joyful level of chaos to our otherwise calm household. Mildred, who we sadly lost, is still very much part of our story - and Mabel continues her tradition of mischief. Their treats, toys and essentials always come from the brilliant independent Pet Pantry Winchester.

Comfort with quiet elegance

I feel happiest in clothes that are warm, classic and comfortable - pieces that work hard without shouting for attention. When it comes to footwear, I swear by Fairfax & Favor boots, and for interiors, the timeless warmth of OKA and the beautiful lighting from Jim Lawrence always feel right at home.

Books, always

If you gave me two free hours, I’d spend every minute choosing my next book - it’s a decision I take surprisingly seriously. Winchester’s P&G Wells remains my favourite bookshop in the world and an endless source of inspiration.

Pens, notebooks and the pleasure of writing

You won’t be surprised to hear that I’m deeply particular about stationery. My favourite pen is a Mont Blanc and the beautiful selection at Warren & Sons in Winchester. A good pen and a fresh notebook are, for me, an invitation to slow down and reconnect.

Gymnastics — still learning

At 44, I’m determined not to let age dictate what’s possible. Gymnastics continues to push me, frighten me a little, and thrill me - which is precisely why I love it.

Family

And, of course, the constant: the people who bring meaning to everything else.

My little black book

A few favourites, for inspiration, daydreams or future wandering…
